Vienna Eats: Quick Guide

Vienna Eats: Quick Guide

Vienna Eats

My first year in Vienna was a success! Absolutely fell in love with this city, the people, the culture and of course the food! So I decided to create a list with a small review of some of my favorite Vienna Eats !! If you ever make the trip, try to check some of these places out.

LUNCH:

•Stewart’s: this has to be one of my favorite places to eat in Vienna. It was located right next to my Uni and I don’t think I had a single meal that I didn’t like. It’s a small little place and only accepts cash so make sure you have some on you! Everything he makes is fresh and creative and delicious. I could list a bunch of things to try but honestly I would eat anything he made without a second thought! I will say my favorite is his fresh tomato mozerella pasta salad. And all the staff are extremely friendly!

•Intermezzo: absolutely one of my favorite places to eat in Vienna. Plenty of delicious options. They have a toasted tomato mozzarella basil bagel sandwich that is to die for. Their burgers are incredible and they have some of the best breakfast options in the city. My favorite is the “sportlich” breakfast. They also have a variety of teas that I’ve enjoyed. The desserts are freshly made, the soups are always great and there is always a vegetarian option as well. The prices are reasonable and they accept cards!

•Hungry Guys: amazing pitas!! My favorites are the vegetarian and the cheeseburger! Place is very hipster but it’s a cool atmosphere and the staff are extremely friendly. Pretty sure this is also cash only!

Miznon: another place for great pitas. Hipster atmosphere. They have a self serve snack bar while ou wait for your meal. Try their signature roasted cauliflower it’s great!

Max and Benito’s: best fast food burritos in my opinion. Everything is fresh and tasty.
•Hidden Kitchen: I ordered the yogurt with fruit and oats, hazelnuts, pumpkin seeds, walnuts and then two bagels with salmon, two types of hummus, avocado and egg. It was incredible. The tomato coconut vegan soup was delicious and the matcha lattes are huge! Cards are accepted.

DINNER:

•Restaurant in Stadtpark: this is another one of my favorite places to eat! I had so many great things here including schnitzel, goulash, soups and more! They also serve Paulaner beer, win win! Has both indoor and outdoor seating with a nice beer garden during warm weather.

•Schweizerhaus: this is a local restaurant located in the Prater park that serves one of the best pork knuckles I’ve ever had. It is a little pricey but it is enough food for two and it melts in your mouth! They also serve my favorite beer Paulaner Weissbeer. This is another place that only accepts cash! They have a huge outdoor beer garden during the warm weather and unfortunately they close down during winter.

•YAMM: for anyone looking for a vegan restaurant, this place is great! I enjoyed absolutely everything I tried. The only downside is that if you choose the buffet it goes by weight of your plate and you can get a pretty hefty bill if you aren’t careful!

•Beaver Brewing Company: love this place. They have a beer called claw tooth that is delicious ! They have American styled tomato soup and grilled cheese for those days you need a home pick me up. The veggie burger is amazing, the pulled pork sandwich is great and so is the brisket. Staff have always been friendly, speak English (English menus).

•Crazy Lobster: order the crazy Lobster roll, it is mouth watering !! The place is pretty expensive but it’s worth it. Also the cheesecake is super creamy.

•En: order the tempura udon. It’s absolutely full of flavor and I was so full I wasn’t able to finished but kept trying anyway.

•Regina Margherita: best seafood pasta I’ve ever had. It’s a nicer place with great outdoor seating. It’s a bit on the pricey side but extremely worth it. I will go back multiple times for the seafood pasta with no hesitation.

BRUNCH PLACES:

•Teehaas & Haas: this place had great outdoor seating and a cute store inside where you can buy all of their teas!! For brunch I highly recommend the English breakfast.

•Corn and Pops: a friend of mine brought me here and I absolutely loved it! You can make your own yogurt parfait and the coffee was very delicious! It’s quiet and quaint.

•Sneak In: I really enjoyed their cappuccino and the yogurt parfait comes in a big round Mason jar with lots of fresh fruit and granola! They have a huge breakfast buffet on the weekends usually.

COFFEE SHOPS:
•Castello- if you want what Americans think of as iced coffee this is one of my favorite places to go. Iced vanilla latte was a regular order for me almost every time I went. In the warmer months they also have alcoholic coffee beverages that are great!

•Cafe Couture: the coffee is pretty and great for photos, but be aware that it is more of the Austrian style coffee and will not be as sweet as some people like it. If you like strong flavored coffee it would probably be a good place to try!
SWEETS:
•Cafe Diglas: went here and had the cheesecake as well as a rum cake and both were very good! The cappuccinos here are also tasty!

•Cafe Coffee Day: they have amazing coffee dessert drinks, cheesecake, gelato and many other delicious sweets!!

•Cafe Central: the desserts here were amazing!! My favorite was a raspberry chocolate brownie. They have traditional apple strudel here as well!

•Cafe Mozart: if you are feeling more adventurous you can try any of the desserts here! The flavor combinations are unique and I enjoyed them quite a bit!

There we have it friends! The top Vienna eats I recommend after my first year living abroad! There are countless options in a city like this and there will be something for everyone. I hope you have enjoyed my Vienna Eats guide and stay tuned for more to come!
