Venice Unveiled: Exploring the Enchanting Canals of Italy’s Floating City

Venice Unveiled: Exploring the Enchanting Canals of Italy’s Floating City

Venice, Italy

We took a three day trip to Venice and took the night train from Vienna. It’s an 8 hour train ride but you can get the sleeping carts and have a bed to yourself which makes the ride pretty easy. Grab a bottle of wine, some playing cards and sleep your way there!

Sites in Venice:

Ponte Di Rialto

The famous Ponte Di Rialto is a very pretty bridge. Its a pretty busy area so be prepared to battle crowds if you’re trying to cross over. It leads to lots of great shopping and has lots of cute stalls near by.

San Marco Square

San Marco square is probably the busiest square in Venice. It has a beautiful sun and moon clock tower and St Marks basilica. I didn’t book tickets in advanced and the line was very long so we ended up not going inside but the outside of the basilica is gorgeous.

Libreria Acqua Alta Di Frizzo

This is the coolest old bookstore library. It smells amazing the second you walk inside! The books are mostly in Italian but there are smaller sections throughout in different languages. The coolest parts to me are the back areas. There is an old entrance from the canal and outside they have a gondola that you can sit in. They also have a small back garden area that is full with a huge stack of books. I highly recommend checking this place out.

Arsenale Di Venezia

This is a cool arsenal fortress that we stumbled upon. We didn’t gain entrance inside and not sure if you can get tickets but from the outside the building is pretty cool.

Activities in Venice:

Gondola Ride

Some people say getting a gondola ride is overrated but I disagree. I absolutely loved it!! I would suggest you do it and see the city via the canals.

Fish Spa

One of the most unique experiences was a fish spa. It was actually really cool, it will tickle a bit but after your feet feel amazing !

What to Eat in Venice:

Pizza pizza pizza ! Almost every where we went that had pizza was amazing. Wo of the best places were San Cassiano and Muro San Stae. The pizzas are huge and very filling.

Gelato, gelato, gelato! I mean it’s Italy so most places you won’t be able to go wrong. There’s tons of places and they’re all over the city.

Magnum Pleasure store is definitely a must! You can go and create your own magnum ice cream bars! Well worth it.

Extra: There were many other places where we had pasta, seafood and if you have the chance to have an espresso cannoli do it !!

Accommodation:

We stayed in hotel San Cassiano Ca’Favretto and it was very nice! It has nice views of the canal with a lovely breakfast buffet that has a tiny balcony for a couple to enjoy.

Extra: for souvenirs I recommend getting an authentic mask! They have stunningly beautiful and one of a kind masks.

Sadly I was not blogging full time when we took this trip and therefore a lot of the details are missing. I hope to return to Venice and create a more in depth and detailed guide one day! Until then I hope the mini guide can help you on your next trip.
