Mia Cafe tapas bar: Marbella (old town)

We wanted to take a day to explore old town Marbella so after our trip to Rhonda, we decided to spend the remainder of the day in old town. It was almost lunchtime when we arrived so the first thing we wanted to do was find a place for lunch. I adore tapas and whenever I am in Spain I try to take full advantage of the opportunity to have tapas (by that I mean pretty much every meal possible). For anyone unfamiliar with tapas it’s basically small portions of food where you can order tons of different items to share. It s the perfect option where you get to taste a little bit of everything. What could possibly be better!? I pulled up google maps and Mia cafe was one of the first places I found so we decided to go find it and boy am I SO happy we did.

DECOR:

Mia cafe isn’t all that big to be honest but it makes great use of both its indoor and outdoor spaces available. They have a few tables inside where the walls are fully open to the small courtyards and the rest of their seating . The wall decor is very tropical but in a tasteful way. They have a hanging garden theme on the inside with large round wicker baskets , plants and Edison bulbs hanging from thick rope. The tables and chairs are standard outside furniture but they were in fact comfortable.

AMBIANCE:

We loved absolutely everything about this place. The vibes were so laid back and relaxing. The music was a bit of beach mixed with old school classics. I felt as if I could spend all day there and never feel rushed.

SERVICE:

The staff were absolutely wonderful. They were so kind and happy to help with any questions or recommendations we asked for. Gratuity is included but they are extremely grateful if you give a little extra. You can go up to the counter to pick from the daily tapas collection.

Daily tapas selections

TASTE:

Sangria: the large cup was a very good sangria with a mix of apples, oranges and strawberries inside (€4.50)

Cavasangria: sangria with a pressco/ champagne twist. The white wine version almost, it’s a bit sweeter (€5.00)

Cavasangria & Sangria

6 Tapas for €10:

Spanish omelette : a potato quiche with ham and cheese. My partner was in heaven and I agree. It was delicious and creamy and just top notch.

Spinach tortilla : a spinach potato quiche and I loved it as well. The flavors blended well together and it was thick with a creamy taste as well.

Tomato soup: it’s a cold dish with cheese, egg and bacon on top. I was surprised by the temperature but the flavor was surprisingly wonderful. My partner thought it was “too much tomato” but after all it is a pure tomato bisque cold soup.

Spanish sausages : ten ish mini sausages in a delicious broth sauce with grilled veggies “ratatouille”vibe. The sausages were tender and just full of flavor. Absolutely fantastic.

Crab salad : HOLY MOLY . I haven’t had a crab salad in a long time and I was astonished at how amazing this one was. The crab was fresh and soft, mixed so well and even my partner (who doesn’t like seafood) had his eyes light up after his first bite.

Pear Prosciutto sandwich: the Parmesan cheese mixed with the sweetness of the pear, the meat fit well with the other toppings. Overall a great sandwich, size wise a little small but a great spark of different taste.

Total: 9.5/10
