Hidden kitchen : Vienna

Hidden kitchen was one of the best cafes I visited when I first moved to Vienna. I lived in the 3rd district and it was close to my university so it made it an easy choice for brunch. They have a decent selection and it is all fresh and mostly healthy.

DECOR:

The cafe is set up in a “rounded L” shape so there’s essentially two wings on each side when you enter from the corner. Both sides have full length windows that allow natural light to fill the cafe and make it lovely and bright. They have a food bar where they have their soup, salad, or mains set up if you choose one of those options. The breakfast and brunch are ordered from menus at your table. The tables are cute with a variety of bench or chair seating options.

AMBIANCE:

It is a very light and laid back cafe. The benches give you a very open instead of crowded feeling. They play music off and on throughout the day but it is never overly loud.

SERVICE at Hidden Kitchen:

The wait staff has always been friendly for the most part. The first few times I visited in previous years there was a self service option at the bar as well as table service but it seems they have done away with the self service option . The food arrived quite quickly even though we ordered a decent amount. You can tell it is all very fresh.

TASTE:

Hot chocolate: we both ordered hot chocolates and I thought it was good, while my partner thought it wasn’t sweet enough. There are two sizes and we ordered the normal which was a bit small however it comes with a tiny but absolutely delicious orange almond biscotti (€2.60)

Wiener Stadtpark: my partner ordered one of the set breakfast. It comes with carrot multigrain bread, an assortment of cheese, ham, soft boiled egg, tomatoes, jam, butter and fresh orange juice. (€11.90)

Bircher musli: I ordered the fruit Müsli which was very tasty. It comes with an assortment of fruit and ahornsirup (€5.90)

Extras: i also ordered a House made bagel (€1.60) and avocado cream with hummus (€2) which was amazing. I often like to have a little savory as well as sweet for my brunches and this was the perfect combination to pair with my fruit musli bowl.
