Top 10 Places to Eat in Kitzbühel

Kitzbühel Austria is famous for some of the best skiing and hiking locations in the world. It is home to the famous Hahenkamm race and host close to 90,000 visitors in that one weekend alone. You might be thinking that with a place that holds an event as grand as this, there must be a big city right? WRONG. Kitzbühel is your quaint, quintessential ski village town. For foodies like me, this can pose a bit of a problem when you are staying longer term in regards to the variety of food options. After 8 months of living in this town I have decided to compose a list of my top places to eat in Kitzbühel to make it easier for anyone visiting!

KTC Clubhouse: $$

The very first people we met the day we arrived in Kitzbühel, were the lovely couple who own and run the KTC Clubhouse right next to the hockey rink. He is from Australia and she is Austrian! It was wonderful meeting them and becoming a “regular” here. The service is the best in town, the food is amazing (no matter what you order it will be incredible) and the prices won’t break the bank. If you ever visit please make sure to tell them Bri & Kevin say hi !!

GC Eichenheim: $$$

This is a unique one as it’s not really a place most people would go to eat unless they wanted to play a round of golf first! There’s no reason you HAVE to play first of course, but it’s an extra thing to do in Kitzbühel if you enjoy it! They have a full 18 and are building a driving range currently. The food is very tasty but it is on the more expensive side. However the atmosphere is pretty cool being on a golf course. The service is great and the presentation is beautiful.

Hours: check the times when you go for golf!

Address: Ried Kaps 3, 6370 Kitzbühel, Austria

S’Nandl: $$-$$$

The best brunch spot “in-town”. I say “in-town” because it is actually located slightly outside of the main part of Kitzbühel in St Johann. This is about a 10 minute drive but is absolutely worth it! I would recommend going early in the morning or making a reservation because it is quite popular. The wait was decent, the service was good and the atmosphere was nice. They have big chairs that can easily fit two and the tables are set up for the brunch platters. This is where they truly shine, presentation. We ordered the classic brunch and the pancakes to split.

Hours:

Sunday / Monday : Closed

Tuesday- Thursday: 8:00-21:00

Friday / Saturday : 8:00-23:00

Address: Speckbacherstraße 20, 6380 St. Johann in Tirol, Austria

Simple: $

This laid back cafe is run by one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. A native Australian (I know, another one!), he has had this place for the last 6 years and dishes out some of the best burgers, smoothies and brownies you could ask for! I personally must recommend the Relax smoothie, it is fantastic! The burgers are all delicious you cannot go wrong. Seating is somewhat limited inside and in winter it can be a bit crowded. In the warmer months there is a small deck terrace outside which is perfect surrounded by the mountain views.

Hours: Monday – Friday: 11:00 – 20:30

Address: Im Gries 8, 6370 Kitzbühel, Austria

Hugo’s: $$$

This is easily one of the more upscale and therefore more expensive places to eat in Kitzbühel. There are multiple entrances and different areas to sit within. You can also sit out on the Main Street with a more cafe atmosphere where as inside they have the fine dining areas. I think some off the portion sizes are much to small for the price but if you get the pizza, its somewhat reasonable. This is more of a special occasion type place for locals (or the many rich Austrians daily spot).

Hours: 8:00-22:00 every day

Address: Vorderstadt 21, 6370 Kitzbühel, Austria

Zinnkrug:

Popular spot and doesn’t break the bank! This is a traditional Austrian spot with lots of traditional food on the menu. However, we go for the pizza and pasta! Being so close to Italy (South Tirol) the Italian food is always great in this area. The portion sizes for pizza and pasta are large and filling, plus they’re one of the least expensive in town!

Hours: 11:00-23:00 every day

Address: Ried Kaps 3, 6370 Kitzbühel, Austria

Taste of Asia: $

This is actually a little asian market shop where you can go to buy all the ingredients for things to cook at home! However you can also eat here and I highly recommend that you do. If you want fresh, authentic asian food made by the sweetest little old lady, this is the spot for you! I ordered the Thai curry which was incredible and the egg noodles, fried riced and the BEST spring rolls ever!

Hours:

Sunday : Closed

Monday – Friday : 11:00-19:30

Saturday: 11:00-18:00

Address: Josef-Pirchl-Straße 16, 6370 Kitzbühel, Austria

Shang-Hai: $

Of course I had to add an Asian Buffet. Last year I was devastated when I had zero asian food options available. This buffet is not large by any means, it has the bare minimum but it is all tasty and it is only 10.50 (euros) a person. The drinks are not included! Staff is very friendly and of course you can order meals if the buffet doesn’t interest you.

Hours:

Saturday: Closed

Sunday- Friday: 11:30-14:30 for lunch and then 17:30-22:30 for dinner

Address: Kirchgasse 5, 6370 Kitzbühel, Austria
