Johnny’s Bistro: Budapest
Johnny’s Bistro: Budapest
My partner was really excited to take me to an American diner in Budapest. He said they had great burgers and all kinds of shakes. I am usually very critical of American diners but I have to say Johnny’s Bistro is by far the best I’ve ever been to outside of the United States. Also you cannot beat the price of this place!! I got a milkshake, burger and fries for under €10!!!! That’s an incredible especially considering how great they are.
DECOR:
I would say that it is American diner style with an almost tiki bar or surfer shack aspect to it. They have a deck which is covered in the cooler months and a room full of booths inside. The walls are covered in beach photos of surfboards, records and license plates. They even had the place covered in Halloween decorations when we went.
AMBIANCE:
The music was very nice, a mix of modern pop and classics. Never was too loud. You felt very relaxed and laid back. Casual dining at its best.
SERVICE at Johnny’s Bistro:
The waitress was nice and spoke English with me once she heard my partner translating. Our food came out quickly other than the cheese mix which came later but was very fresh.
TASTE:
Snickers milkshake: OH MY GOD. Not only did it come out looking fancy as can be, it tasted incredible!!! I want to say it’s just like the ones you get in specialty places in the United States (small €4)
Cheesy mix: you get 3 mozzarella sticks, 3 jalapeño cheese balls and 3 tomato cheese balls. The tomato ones were interesting, the jalapeño were very good and the mozzarella were good but typical (€5)
Chipotle burger: it was a good burger overall, the flavors were good, the bun very fluffy and the sauces spicy. Comes with fries (€5!!)
Fries: they’re a take on wedges if they were thinner and folded into a v shape. Perfectly soft and crunchy combo.
