Restaurants

London’s Best Food Spots starts off with some of the restaurants we visited.

Rasa Sayang:

Our first night all I wanted for dinner was to visit Chinatown. I was misguided in thinking that it wouldn’t be an expensive meal but it wasn’t as cheap as I expected. We paid £32 for 2 drinks, 2 mains and an appetizer. We ordered spring rolls, Roti Canai, and the chicken Kon Lo Mee Hainanese. It was all good especially if you enjoy spicy food!

Sketch:

What trip to London is complete without a High Tea experience. This is one of the most expensive activities we did and was a birthday present from my partners parents. It was incredible and I highly recommend doing it as it’s worth every penny!

Lantica Pizzeria:

If you want delicious pizza and are near Baker Street this is the place for you! I personally couldn’t resist because of the sign. My partner absolutely loves pizza and this was a could not miss opportunity. The staff all laughed and were so friendly.

Cafes

Mikes Cafe:

We absolutely loved our breakfast here! The portions are huge and the people are so nice. They used to have a Polaroid where guest could add their photos to the map but it broke. Luckily we had mine and they added us to their map!

Bars and Pubs

The Churchhill Arms Pub:

This place is a must see as they decorate the outside for the holidays and it has one of the best inside atmospheres of any pub! Also the food is Thai food, not pub food and it is incredible.

Mr Foggs Tavern:

This is a pretty famous spot because the front door is always decorated for the holidays. We came just before they transitioned to the Christmas decor for a few drinks!

The Sun in Splendour Tavern:

We stopped in here for a few drinks before we left for the airport!

Maple Leaf:

My partner being the hockey player he is, obsessed with Canada was very excited to visit the Maple Leaf pub. We went tapas style and order a ton of things to share and it was all good pub food.

The Three Stags:

This pub was located so close to our Airbnb and we went in for some late night snacks and a drink! Delicious cocktails but not the cheapest.

Cocktails

Desserts

Milk Train:

This is the place for all my Instagram lovers. The delicious sweets shop has a ton of interesting flavors and treats to fix your sweet tooth!

Biscuiteers:

Another adorable Instagramable cafe found in Notting Hill area. They are quite expensive but you can be sure the treats are tasty.

Mikes Cafe:

We absolutely loved our breakfast here! The portions are huge and the people are so nice. They used to have a Polaroid where guest could add their photos to the map but it broke. Luckily we had mine and they added us to their map!

Doughnut Time:

Little doughnut shop in Notting Hill with the most creative names for their doughnuts!

Coffee

Pret:

This is one of your main coffee and quick food chains in London. They had delicious coffee and was perfect when we got caught in the middle of a rain storm to help warm us up!

Here are some must-try local dishes from London and England:

  1. Fish and Chips – Crispy battered fish, typically cod or haddock, served with thick-cut fries and mushy peas.
  2. Full English Breakfast – A hearty plate of eggs, sausages, bacon, black pudding, baked beans, grilled tomatoes, and toast.
  3. Pie and Mash – Traditional minced beef pie paired with mashed potatoes and a green parsley sauce called “liquor.”
  4. Sunday Roast – A classic British meal featuring roast meat (beef, lamb, or chicken), served with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, vegetables, and gravy.
  5. Bangers and Mash – Sausages served over a bed of mashed potatoes, often accompanied by onion gravy.
  6. Jellied Eels – A historic East London dish made from boiled eels, served cold in a jelly-like broth.
  7. Eton Mess – A popular dessert made with crushed meringue, strawberries, and whipped cream.
  8. Sticky Toffee Pudding – A rich, moist sponge cake made with dates, covered in a warm toffee sauce.
