Melt: Zagreb
Melt: Zagreb
Once again ladies and gentlemen we are back with my favorite meal… brunch! On our trip down to Split, we made a pit stop to see a friend who is from Zagreb and was thankfully home for that one day (lucky us). She recommended Melt for brunch and I can say she absolutely delivered!
DECOR:
This little gem doesn’t stand out from the street. It’s located right off the main square in Zagreb and doesn’t have any large signs to indicate it’s presence. You walk in to a cave like cellar but it’s all white and gives a brighter feel. You walk straight back to a small room with probably around 10 or so tables for two to three people. The walls and ceiling are exposed white painted brick, the tables very simple round wooden, with chairs ranging from benches, couches, wicker and the simple stools.
AMBIANCE:
The atmosphere is very relaxed and calm. It’s not too dark with a few windows on the far left wall to let in natural light to the room. The kitchen is semi exposed and you can see the women who started the cafe working hard making an assortment of orders.
SERVICE:
We were there on a Sunday at 10:30 and it is not a big place by any means. However they only had one women working the whole room so it was a bit of a slow process. They were also out of a lot of options since it’s considered the end of the week. None the less, the waitress was very kind and helpful.
TASTE:
I can honestly say there was not a single item I didn’t throughly enjoy. Every bit was tasty and full of flavor!
Melt breakfast: my partner ordered this and boy am I glad he did. (I almost ordered this and would have missed out). This plate of heaven comes with bacon, ham, a egg over easy, tomatoes, avocado, feta, corn bread and the greatest fried mushrooms I’ve ever had (they tasted like bacon). The pairing of it all together blended like a taste of pure heaven.
French toast: the French toast was also extremely good. The highlights for me was the most delicious peanut butter spread I’ve had in YEARS and the raspberry jelly spread across it. It’s topped with half strawberries and half bananas. Personally the banana was a little overpowering with all the flavors, still good, but the strawberry side was the real winner.
Tropical smoothie: If you are a fan of tropical flavors then do not miss out of this tasty treat !
