Taperia la Bodeguita: Benalmádena
Our last day I wasn’t going to leave without having a tapas lunch. We needed to return the car before heading to the airport so I looked around the area of the car rental place and I found Taperia la Bodeguita. They open early which is what we needed (most places open at noon the earliest). So we made a pit stop at this little tapas bar. It’s only one street in from the beach and right on the main road.
AMBIANCE in Taperia la Bodeguita:
It’s a very laid back Spanish styled tapas bar. They have tables outside which offer open air and a mixture of sun and cover. Inside is quite small and it’s very dark. There’s lots of brick and wood and not much space to move around. I believe they have another seating area inside but I honestly couldn’t tell if it was the same place or not. Overall though it seems very family styled, come relax and hangout a while.
SERVICE:
The owner was the sweetest man. We were pretty much the only people there other than one grandma and her grandson so we had no trouble getting service. *no credit card payments , cash only
TASTE:
Sangria: this was the best traditional sangria of the trip. It was the perfect blend of sweetness and flavor. It would be the best of the trip other than the strawberry sangria from the first night .
Potato omelette: (pimientos de piquillo) these Spanish twist on quiche just are by far one of my favorite Spanish go to meals. The potato is just delicious and crumbles as you cut and scoop it up. It’s served with a perfectly grilled green pepper that just shreds with your fork and gives the potatoes just a little extra kick of flavor (€2.50)
Shrimp fritters: (tortillas de camarones) this was a surprise when it came out. It didn’t look like I expected it too and the first bite was even more of a shock. It has a maple like sauce over top that makes the first bite almost taste like a crispy pancake. Over all it was still good the combination was just surprising (€2.00)
Pork sausage: (Chorizo) these mildly spicy and chewy on the inside crunchy on the outside sausage bites were very typical Spanish sausages. They came in an oil that gave some extra flavor and paired nicely with the bread (€3.50)
Croquetas: these were by far the biggest croquettes we’ve had this trip. They are quite creamy and served with a tomato sauce that’s honestly just a small bowl of tomato bisque soup. It’s a wonderful addition. Our only complaint was that half were meat and half were seafood. That was unexpected and the seafood ones were too fishy for our liking (€8.00)
