Selina Co-Working:
Selina Serenity is part of a larger Selina community worldwide. In 2007 Selina’s co-founders Rafael Museri and Daniel Rudasevski were living in Pedasí, a small fishing town in Panama. Through running real estate projects and developing the town, they began to build a tight-knit social circle comprised of locals and travelers alike. It became clear to them that they were working on something special, and just like that, the first Selina was born in Venao, a surf town near Pedasí in 2014. Since then, Selina has grown and is still growing at the rate of a new location per week.
Selina provides guests with beautiful places to stay, travel, and work abroad indefinitely. Plus, the community uses their in-depth local knowledge to create thousands of authentic activities and experiences in over 110 destinations worldwide. From the heart of urban cities to the depth of the Amazon Jungle, we put our heart, soul, and wanderlust into providing forever-travelers, break-takers, and staycaters with a new and exciting way to explore the world.

Pharmacies can come in handy when traveling and there is one located only a 2 minute walk away from the resort. The employees are very friendly, knowledgeable and explain everything they can in English. We needed some stomach medicine when we first arrived and they were a big help.

Accessibility for digital nomads needing to work remotely
Overall, Selina Serenity is designed with co-working needs in mind and built for remote workers and digital nomads as well as backpackers and solo travelers. They make sure that anything you could need is available or nearby, although many come with additional charges. If you can go with less, or you can budget for the extras, then Selina would be a great option for digital nomads.

Workspace availability and quality
Co-working spaces are available but at an additional charge of ฿350 a day. You need a specialized key card to access it which you can get at reception. I was able to work from the bedroom, the restaurant spaces and the pool beds with no issues. Many other people were working in these areas every day as well, so you can make it work without needing to pay the extra fee for the rooms. However if you wish to have quiet, work among others and stay in the AC outside of your own room, then utilizing the co-working space occasionally could serve you well.
Internet speed and reliability
The entire resort area has wifi for guest. It ranges from all the rooms and all of the public shared spaces. I was able to upload, download and work without any issues during our stay. There were no cut outs or disconnections either which was great.
Noise levels and privacy
Noise levels and privacy differ depending on the room type you choose. While some are closer to the shared areas, these will be subject to the music and parties that happen in the public spaces into the evening. Our cabana was literally the furthest one on the property from the public space and when we retired to bed there was no music to be heard. Our room had pull down shades for privacy and to block the sun. We never were disrupted by neighbors in other cabanas either. If you are staying in one of the shared buildings, the noise levels could be louder.
Facilities & Services
On-site facilities such as gyms, pools, co-working spaces, etc.
Selina Serenity has two public pools. One is the main for all the guest located beachfront in between the restaurant and bar. The second is a smaller pool located at the end of the cabanas section. If you want a private pool then you can choose one of the rooms that has its own for more privacy.
There is a gym located behind the pool area and is very well equipped for anyone looking to have a proper workout during their stay. Wide range of weights, bar bells, squat racks, bench and leg press, treadmills, bikes and elliptical. On top of the bar is the wellness area which houses all of the yoga classes. These are offered at a fee except the once a week free class.
Quality of services provided (housekeeping, front desk, etc.)
During check in they give you the QR code for the reception desk What’sApp number. Our first night we had a few questions and they responded somewhat promptly. After that (including the final message of the evening) they stopped responding to any of our questions without having to send a follow up after they had read and ignored the original message.
Food service was quite slow. Island time is for sure a thing here as every meal (except breakfast which is a self-serve buffet) seems to take a very long time to bring out after being ordered. If something was missing (mayo, ketchup, etc) it was often easier to get up yourself to ask for it directly from the window than wait for the server to bring it for you. This was even when they were not very busy as many people had gone out during the day for adventures and activities. We understand when it is busy and they’re backed up but this wasn’t always the case so we tried to start ordering well before we even got hungry.
The front desk was available for help when we needed to rent a scooter for a day, to help call our next destination and we saw many people booking tours with them directly. They had a small shop with snacks, bug spray, sun block and other items you might need for the beach. They also helped arrange transport to our next location after there was a miscommunication from the hotel.
Value for Money
Pricing compared to similar accommodations in the area
For pricing in the area, I would say Selina is in the mid range with a slight skew to the lower end. While you can find some cheaper options in the area, the quality for price ratio is not as high. There is even a clamping location nearby that is more expensive. This will come down to personal budgets and what you value as inclusions for your money.
Inclusion of value-added services or perks
There isn’t much more to add that hasn’t already been mentioned other than you are given a voucher for a welcome drink between 18:00-19:00 but its from a very limited list of options. Majority of the additional services all come with additional costs. Breakfast might be included depending on the type of stay you chose, otherwise it is ฿1500. They also offered daily activities and classes, some free and some with additional fees. During our stay there was yoga, meditations, ice baths, qigong, bachata, art therapy, fire shows and live music / dj’s. Finally, Selina is also pet friendly meaning is you travel with a furry loved one then this is perfect for you!
Overall value proposition for digital nomads
Overall, I think Selina is a good option for those looking to stay long term. We met many people who had been there for months and were loving their stay. Selina gave them a good base and they had all the necessities they needed on the property or in the surrounding areas. If you’re looking for a co-living space with co-working options, on site facilities and a place to call home for a while, I think Selina Serenity can be a good option.
Our Experience & Thoughts
Personal experience and impressions
Overall, we enjoyed our time at Selina Serenity. For us it was by far the best place to connect and socialize with others. The location was great for what we wanted to see in the area and it also gave us a chance to relax and catch up on things we needed to get done.
Recommendations and tips for future guests
Happy hour is between 19:30-20:00 and it is BOGO for cocktails or buy 2 get 3 for beer. We highly recommend their buckets as the value for price vs size is by far the best option. If you want to get a cabana bed or sun bed, make sure you go in the morning as they can get busy in the midday onwards. They do have signs that if you leave your spit for more than 30 minutes other guest may take the bed so keep this in mind. They have a limited number of scooters on the property so rent early if you think you will need one.
