5 Top Travel Apps:

Top 5 Travel Apps:

Everyone knows that traveling can be a stressful process. Especially if you’re not a frequent traveler or (like me) you like to be overly organized. There’s flight itineraries, boarding passes, check in confirmations, luggage tags, hotel reservations and addresses to remember. Let’s not forget tickets and confirmations for all the activities you have planned, all those restaurant reservations and entrance tickets. Plus what about all those conversions you need to do for traveling to a foreign country (currency, distances, etc). Trying to keep all of this in your head or finding an organized location to keep hard copies of everything can become overwhelming to say the least. Well, my top 5 travel apps will help simplify your travel process by tackling every single issue I have mentioned, plus more.

SKY SCANNER:

There are tons of “compare your flight” sites out there today. For me, my Skyscanner app is my go to choice because it is so much more than that. It takes all your search engines for flights, hotels and car rentals into one simple to use app. You can compare prices of all the options available to you in one page. It has an explore page where there are a selection of recommendations for different types of trips (solo travel, travel with kids, etc). If you are planning a last minute spontaneous trip, there is a “best deals” for upcoming weekends or months category. After you’ve done your research and booked the best trip for you,  the app keeps all your details and reservations right there in the app for you!

2. AirBnB:

I know this one isn’t ground breaking news to anyone. AirBnB isn’t new but for me, it’s still one of the best travel apps for accommodation. I always look at hotels and other accommodation sites when traveling. In the end, I almost always choose AirBnB for the prices and convenience. The app lets you creat list for trips, compare those listings and choose the best one for you. Having all the information you need about your accommodation in one place makes the entire process easier. Accommodation isn’t the only thing they offer on the app either. They also have recommendations for activities. You can book through the app or use my next app to find more about those suggested activities.

3. GET YOUR GUIDE:

This is by far my favorite app for planning activities no matter where I travel. If you’re like me, you like to research a little about what experiences are available once you have chosen your destination. When you find something that interest you, that’s when the real struggle begins. Do you book with an agency? Do you try to find a tour group that will take you there? Or do you go to all the individual websites and then try to keep up with all the itineraries.

Get Your Guide makes all of this so easy. You can search thousands of destinations and see what activities are available on specific days. You can then book them directly through the app where it saves your confirmations, tickets and makes a schedule for all your itineraries in one location. It can’t get any easier than that. The explore page also could give you tons of information about offers you didn’t know existed. This can help you find all the fun things that might not be as well known. This truly is one amazing travel app. You can click the link below to take you to their home page and explore!

4. UNITS PLUS:

When I moved abroad this app was honestly a life line for me. As an American, I must admit I was not use to the metric system or using Celsius for temperature. This app was my go to for so long (and still is today) when I needed to convert something. It has so many categories for you to choose from (see below). No matter if you’re cooking with foreign recipes, trying to pay for a souvenir or a meal in a foreign currency, convert speed while driving or determine what outfit to wear in an unfamiliar temperature, Unit Plus is an amazing resource to have.

5. TRIPIT:

The perfect partner for the traveler who wants to be extremely organized but also wants the minimum amount of effort. TripIt arranges and stores all your information in one place for easy access. Say goodbye to days of screenshoting all your booking confirmations, searching for confirmation emails and text, or trying to remember your travel itineraries by yourself! TripIt organizes it all on a handy dandy app. In an easy to use format TripIt makes travel an absolute breeze. All you have to do is grant it access to your emails and they’ll import all your travel details directly into the app. That’s literally all you have to do. During travel, the app makes it simple to find all your booking details fast. It even works offline, so you don’t need to worry about blowing all your data allowance !

BONUS App:

HAPPY COW: HappyCow is a crowdsourced, worldwide directory of vegan, vegetarian and veg-friendly restaurants. As well as, other veg-friendly businesses of interest to travelers, such as B&Bs and health food stores. While HappyCow has been around for more than 20 years in the form of a web-based directory, its popularity has boomed in recent years. This is thanks to the growing interest in veganism as a sustainable, eco-friendly way of eating.

Travelers with food allergies, will also find the app to be extremely useful. Particularly allergies to dairy, eggs, meat or seafood which are major focuses of the app. With just one click, you can see all the healthy and veg-friendly eating options near you. No matter where you are in the world this will help you shorten the search. At a glance, you can see whether a restaurant is open or not in real time while you’re out and about exploring. Or you can see the detailed opening hours, if you’re planning for a meal later in the day.

There you have it folks!! My highly recommended, must have favorite travel apps that have helped make my own travel experiences infinitely smoother! I hope these recommendations can help you simplify your travel life and making your planning as well as the rest of the trip smooth sailing the entire way!
