Rome: Exploring the Historic Marvels of Italy’s Capital City

Rome: Exploring the Historic Marvels of Italy’s Capital City

All roads lead to …. ROME! One of the most famous destinations on everyone’s bucket list, and for good reason. I mean, what girl born in the 90’s didn’t dream of her adventure abroad to Rome, where she’s mistaken as a pop star and has a forbidden romance (hopefully not with a jerk like Paolo). Then ends up with the guy she’s meant to be with (way to hang in there Gordo). Yes, expectations are high thanks to you Lizzie McGuire. My trip may not have been straight off the Disney channel but it sure was a magical time nonetheless. The only downside is sadly at the time I wasn’t blogging so I don’t have a ton of detailed recommendations as it has been so long. If you want, here is a great 24 hour Instagrammable guide to Rome. My goal is to go back to Rome, Italy and create an in depth guide! Until then, here were my highlights we will cover:

728*90

Sites:

Trevi Fountain:

Obviously one of the most famous places in Rome, it was my favorite. If you like to people watch this is THE place for you. Grab yourself a gelato and a coin, head on down to the fountain, make your wish and watch it all come true while enjoying that sweet sweet Italian treat.

Colosseum:

One of the greatest wonders of the world to me, this is a piece of history frozen in time. It’s honestly amazing to see and it transports you back to a time when Rome was truly the ruler of the world.

Cat Ruins:

These ruins were another piece of history preserved. Now serves as a home to so many furry little friends.

Cat Cafe:

I love to go to cat cafes any chance I get. This was my first international cat cafe! They had great coffee, fun coloring sheets and the best little hangout buddies.

Extras:

I found a cool pyramid in the city!

There are tons of street vendors and in most places I tend to avoid them unless they’re in a market. However in Rome I was pleasantly surprised. I stumbled upon a very nice street artist. He made me an elephant painting without me ever telling him about my love for elephants!

Was a lovely trip with my cousin!

GoCity

With Go City passes, you can visit bucket list attractions, enjoy top tours, and discover plenty of hidden gems — all of which are handpicked by local experts. Go City allows travelers to avoid multiple entry fees and paper tickets. With Go City, it’s one price, one pass, and everything travelers need, right there on your phone! Additional Recommendations:

Due to the fact that I wasn’t blogging when I went to Rome I wanted to find resources to share with you from other bloggers who have great detailed guides. Check out A Wandering RedHead’s blog post about the top attractions and how to best spend one week in the Eternal City. She even included the Vatican so don’t miss it!

Until I am able to travel back and create a more in depth guide with all the details I hope this mini guide can help you on your next trip!
